What will it cost me for the KP Sales to conduct my estate or moving sale?

There is no up-front expense to you. We will negotiate a percentage of total sales for our commission, and simply deduct that from the proceeds at the end of the sale.

How far in advance should I call KP Sales?

Obviously, the sooner the better. The longer we have to advertise helps bring larger crowds which means higher prices for items being sold. We often have sales lined up for several weeks in advance, although some of them may be flexible, and we may be able to fit you in at the last minute. Don’t hesitate to call no matter what your time frame.

How long does it take to set up an estate sale?

We normally only need 2-3 days to set up a sale. Typically we begin set up or staging the Monday prior to sale.

How many days are the sales held, open to the public?

This depends on the amount of items included in the sale. A typical sale runs 2-3 days. If there are a large number of high end items the sale may run longer in order to ensure a fair sales price.

Where does KP sales advertise?

We advertise on our professionally created website, Facebook, YouTube, Craigslist, the well known estatesales.net which now has over 28,000 Chicago buyers, estatesale.com, our exclusive contacts, our email list. We also send out flyers at the beginning of every month and have professional signage in the vicinity of the sale.

How do I know I can trust KP Sales to conduct my sale?

We are a family owned and operated business that strives on a positive reputation. We have been conducting sales since the 80s and have numerous clients and customers that are willing to speak on our behalf. We can provide referrals from recent sales that will leave you feeling comfortable with hiring KP Sales.

I don’t have an “entire household” – Can you help me sell what I have?

We are known for conducting large scale sales. Meaning the houses are packed! This is done by combining houses or bringing in items that are being sold on consignment. If you don’t have a full house or only have select items to sell, we have options for you. We arrange pick up of larger items and add them to an upcoming sale or add items to your sale. Remember, larger sales bring more people which bring more money!

Can I assign a minimum sales price to my items?

We allow our clients to place minimums on certain items if they are reasonable and fair. However, we must also be given the freedom to price items to sell. We have conducted hundreds of sales and are extremely knowledgable when it comes to pricing.

What happens to the items that don’t sell?

We strive to sell every last item in the house for the highest price we can achieve. However, we only have 2-3 days to get it all sold. At the end of the sale, if you wish, we can arrange to have a clean out service or donation team remove the remaining items. Also, you can choose to keep any unsold items.

What do I, as the homeowner do to prepare for the sale?

Remove any items that are NOT for sale!! You hire us to sell your unwanted items not protect items you or family are wanting to keep. We do the rest. We arrange, organize and display everything in the sale. DO NOT donate or throw items aways before the sale. While furniture may bring in higher prices, small items makeup a large majority of the sale.
